Three times each year, our grant committee reviews all the completed grant applications we’ve received during the previous several months. It’s a multistep process that requires detailed study by board members and our volunteer liaisons. We want to be sure our grants are transformative and sustainable.

Board members review one or more applications, noting their questions and concerns. Then our volunteer liaisons review the applications, taking into account the board member issues. Our carefully trained liaisons reach out to the grant applicants to learn more about the Montessori initiative. This is a deep dive in which the liaisons gain significant insight into the community, the families and the school needs. They gather a myriad of details about the world about this initiative resides. The liaisons bring this knowledge to our combined board and liaison evaluation meeting.

Our evaluation meetings are intense as we seek to identify those applicants that will be most sustainable and where our grants will be transformable. We always have more worthy applications than available funding. It’s challenging, emotional, and both exhilarating and saddening. When this meeting ends, board members serving on the grant committee make the final determination as to which applicants will receive a grant and for how much. Their decision is based on all the liaisons’ deep research and discussions points.

Every donation is tax deductible.
