Congratulations
The Joen Bettmann Primary Training of Trainers Fund is pleased to announce its first grant award. This grant is awarded to Jess Frayley, currently in completing her training of trainers work with Montessori Northwest, an AMI training center in Portland, OR. This award will help Jess cover her expenses during her apprenticeship year.
The Bettmann Fund Committee, composed of MGGF board members, members of the Montessori community, and Art Krasilovsky (Joen’s husband) worked diligently to identify a worthy candidate.
Candidates had to meet the following criteria:
Candidates had to be participating in AMI 3-6 (Primary) Training of Trainers during the 2022-2023 school year. Those in their final apprenticeship year of Training of Trainers were prioritized.
Candidates had to be affiliated with a non profit agency recognized as tax-exempt by the Internal Revenue Service or comparable status if from outside the United States, or an organization that is requesting funding for an initiative that has a charitable and/or educational purpose. This non-profit agency may be an AMI recognized training center. This organization will receive and disperse the grant from MGGF.
In addition, the Bettmann Fund sought to partner with individuals that:
Share our mission of freeing the child’s infinite potential and our vision of realizing Dr. Maria Montessori’s dream of world peace, one community at a time;
Demonstrate commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion in their work;
Collaborate with others to build community-supported Montessori;
Demonstrate administrative capability, financial planning, and organizational skills;
Have an understanding of and could evaluate the impact and effectiveness of their work.
It was a challenging yet rewarding process for the committee. They were struck by the strength of the candidates and wished the fund could support additional grants.
Congratulations Jess, we know you will exemplify the work of Joen Bettmann.
