A guide works with a child, opening the doors to the world

A guide works with a child, opening the doors to the world

Located in the SW corner of Arizona, Bisbee, the county seat of Cochise County, has approximately 5,700 residents. Cochise County is about the size of Rhode Island and Connecticut combined. The entire county has about 131,000 residents. Bisbee was at one time a thriving mining community, but now relies primarily on tourism. While the mild climate makes it an attractive area, the closing of mines and its remoteness has made it difficult to attract new residents.

Community Montessori School (CMS) decided that it would train its own guide to help meet the growing demand for Montessori education in Bisbee. The trustees recruited the primary classroom assistant to begin her AMI training. She’s finished all her classroom work while also working as lead teacher this past winter during the pandemic and is starting her final summer of practicum work in Phoenix, Arizona.

Your gifts will enable CMS Montessori primary classroom lead to become an AMI certified guide

Recruited several years ago from a local restaurant by CMS’ certified AMI elementary guide, this primary guide has become passionate about Montessori principles and her role in working with the children. She’s thrilled with the positive changes she’s seen among the children.

CMS accepts all children who apply, and gives reduced tuition rates to all families. CMS relies on grants, donations, and gifts to cover the tuition gap. Covering the cost of training a primary guide was and is daunting, but essential to the well-being of the children.

Your gift will help a remote community fulfill its dream of having AMI certified teachers.
