Texarkana Montessori School

Located in Texarkana, Arkansas, a city located in the southwestern corner of the state of Arkansas. It is part of the Texarkana metropolitan area, which includes its twin city, Texarkana, Texas and serves families from both states. As the only Montessori School in the area this program was born out of the desire of two parents who wanted to provide this type of educational option for their own children. The program has quickly grown as a testament to the needs and wants of the community for a quality Montessori program. As stated in the application, many lower-income families in the community struggle to afford quality early childhood education; bound by the state voucher program to specific learning environments. Many of these do not offer conditions of respect for the child and their sensitive periods, a prepared environment, freedom within limits or control of error. Texarkana Montessori’s goal is to provide an authentic Montessori education to any family that is interested regardless of their financial resources.

MGGF has granted funds so that they may purchase classroom furnishings designed for the children and will allow them to present Montessori work as well as offer a prepared environment which is accessible and aesthetic to each individual child.
