Montessori del Mundo
November 2024
92% of MdM students are people of color, 64% qualify for free and reduced-price lunch, and 57% are immigrants and English language learners. MdM is unique among Montessori schools in that it does not charge tuition for K-6 students, and about 80% of preschoolers receive some level of financial assistance from the school to attend (ranging from 50%-100% tuition). Because of this commitment to equitable access, MdM serves many children who would not otherwise have the opportunity to attend a high-quality, dual-language Montessori ECE program. MdM's goal is to close achievement gaps and prepare all students for success in their educational and professional futures, and the school has been highly successful in achieving strong academic growth and closing achievement gaps among the children it serves.
A key component to providing an authentic and excellent Montessori education is to ensure their teachers are Montessori trained and also have foundational literacy training that will allow them to provide excellent bilingual instruction.
Because of their successful program they are able to expand from pre-school through 6th grade to pre-school through 8th grade. This will require training more teaching staff and MGGF is proud to partner with Montessori del Mundo to provide funding for Montessori teacher training.
